Normandy: Reliving D-Day

Bonjour Y'all!

In the beginning of March, Colleen joined us for a week and we spent part of our time with her in Normandy, France. Normandy is a region of northern France known for its coastline of mile-long beaches, dramatic, white-chalk cliffs and WWII beaches, including Omaha Beach.

We left Brussels mid-day Friday and embarked on a 5.5hr drive to our bed and breakfast, Les Quatre Etoiles (The Four Stars). Upon our arrival, we were greeted by our hosts, Tonnis and Francis, and their dog, Bella. The manor is an old farmhouse circa 1760.  The inside of the house was so beautiful and we could sense that the décor was carefully planned and selected. The parlor boasted an impressive fireplace with an exquisitely wood-carved mantle. Fortunately, we were the first guests of the season and the only guests of the weekend. This meant we had the house to ourselves!
