Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane and after his team-mates contrived to gift Southampton the opening goal today, the Frenchman could head for the exit door.
The 28-year-old had absolutely no chance of stopping Graziano Pelle’s opener and Ryan Mason and Ben Davies were firmly to blame for the comical fashion in which the goal came about.
First, Mason dispossessed Sadio Mane on the edge of the box, but inexplicably slipped over to present the ball to Pelle.
The Southampton striker poked the ball towards goal and looked to have lost out as Davies came across to cover.
However, the Spurs defender hesitated to let Pelle put the ball past Lloris, who was telling Davies to clear his lines before the goal went in.
