Rockets’ Fentzlaff signs

USA Today High School Sports

No matter who the quarterback was, Stone Fentzlaff stepped up for the Reynolds football team in 2014.

Friday was the senior’s just reward.

Fentzlaff signed to play college football for Centre (Ky.) Friday in his high school’s media center.

Fellow seniors C.J. Allen and Tevin Stafford split time at quarterback for the MAC 3-A runner-up Rockets (7-6) in 2014 and have accepted preferred walk-on spots at Western Carolina University.

Stafford began and ended the year as Reynolds’ starter, but Allen took over for him, for injury purposes, during a five-game stretch in September and October.

Former All-WNC lineman Stephen Sparacino has signed with Limestone (S.C.), giving the Rockets four college recruits.
