The Forgotten 5th Amendment: The Right To Remain Silent

“Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise;

            When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.” Proverbs 17:28

Ignorance is one of the largest issues in our society today. Everyone believes they have the right to say whatever they think to be true. Which may be true because we are granted the privilege of free speech as protected by the Constitution. The issue comes from people voicing an opinion or thought that has no backing to it, or is so offensive and incorrect that should never be voiced in our society. I’m not saying you do not have the right to say these things, because you do, but the issue is choosing when to exercise that right. Words should be used to encourage and lead, rather than to cut down and confuse.

Solomon, who was just an incredibly wise individual, writes this verse in Proverbs. So…
