This has been a common concept in theology – to understand Religion, you have to go beyond thinking, beyond understanding. Thinking is fine, but it won’t give you any ultimate insights.
This position can be taken a number of ways. Some of them quite sophisticated – as in existentialism. But also in the most dogmatic religious ways.
But most important, is its coexistence with the religion of our times – the religion of global business. This is sometimes called a secular religion – and has been noted for some time. And it used to be balanced by progressive movements. But these have disappeared – and Business (with a capital B) reigns supreme.
This religion is not hard to understand – it wants to grab everything for itself – and is not interested in people at all.
And the people can see nothing wrong with this.
